A Heartbreaking Loss

Yesterday our beloved dog Daisy, was struck and killed by a truck. She was a member of our family for four short years. Daisy wasn't just a dog, but a comforter when we were sick, a secret keeper, a bed warmer, guardian, and faithful to the very end. She was struck when she broke out through our front door because she just couldn't bear to be away from us while we were visiting my parents across the road.

Death comes when we least expect it. It never occurred to us that our beloved Daisy wouldn't live out a long healthy life on our farm. She was a great farm dog. Never killed any animals, chased only a few chickens, and always went with me to do chores or check the perimeter of our farm.

It's a hard loss to handle. My children are devastated and so am I. I am at a loss of how to comfort them when I can't comfort myself.  The best words of comfort I could give them was Daisy is playing in the biggest crick in heaven with Jesus right now.

Rest in peace my beloved friend.
