Menu Plan and Some Changes!

We are preparing for some MAJOR changes at our home this week. My oldest child is heading off to public school for the first time! This will bring many changes to our routines. We'll be getting up much earlier and I'll be preparing two breakfasts each day (!?!?) as well as packing a lunch. I won't lie- I'm more than a little nervous about sending him off. I can't imagine how it feels to send a kindergartner off!!! Any tips from parents who have home schooled and then put their child in public school would be much appreciated!!

A big plus about this change is that I cook when I'm nervous and this weekend I browned 20lbs of beef and cooked a chicken that I'll shred and freeze the broth. I've made several batches of freezer cookie dough (must have warm chocolate chip cookies ready after school!!) and mixed up muffin mixes.

Here's what's cooking this week at our house-

Breakfast
baked peanut butter oatmeal
eggs and bacon
chocolate chip coffee cake
banana muffins/fruit
pancakes
hash browns/eggs

Lunches leftovers or
taco soup
baked potato bar
grilled cheese

Dinner
grill
lasagna/salad/garlic bread
3 packet roast/mashed potatoes/Parmesan green beans
bourbon chicken/rice
marinated flank steak/crashed potatoes
grill
grill

I did this a year and a half ago with my oldest. It was weird but he needed it. We all needed it. I was nervous - he wasn't. he was so brave and did great. He loved it right from the get go and still does. It will be fine.

We sent our oldest to school as a 7th grader last year, after homeschooling him from the beginning. He did so well with the adjustment, that we gave the option to our middle boy to start this year too. He wanted to, after seeing the experience of his older brother. You have given your son a great start at home! :)
