Using the Clothesline

When we moved to the country I heard how expensive the electricity was so one of my first goals was to use the least amount of energy possible. I started using a clothes line right away. I hung every load of wash and kept our electric bill about $40 a month. Fast forward a few years and add two more children and I have found a love of hanging laundry again.

I love that my oldest daughter will help me and share her dreams while hanging clothes. I love that my one year old is playing at my feet and "helping" get the clothes out of the basket. I love the smell of clothes that have been drying on the line.

I have found that drying clothes on the line for a family of seven requires that I do one load of laundry a day. It takes me about 10 minutes to hang one load of laundry. I love that it gives me a few moments to enjoy God's creation.

Hanging our laundry works for me! For more works for me ideas check out we are that family

I can't imagine $40 electric bill! But I love the idea of hanging laundry too! I wish I lived in the country again...

That is such a good idea...I am afraid of doing it with all of us having such bad allergies though.

I love hanging laundry, too. There is something peaceful about clothes on a line swaying in the breeze. I enjoyed your post :o)
