It's a Dirty Job...

Today is the third day of our homestead challenge. I don't think I have ever been this dirty. We spent the first half of the day hanging laundry, weeding the garden (for two hours!!), and my son pushed mowed our yard ( for two hours!!). After a quick lunch of sandwiches we headed out to the greenhouse and Kroger's.

We finally finished buying for our garden- at least until I find something else to plant!! The greenhouse had some of their plants marked down...I bought another 20 strawberry plants for a song. My girls also talked me into another red raspberry bush and a blueberry bush. I finally remembered to buy seed potatoes. Last year we planted red potatoes this year we'll be planting Yukon gold.

Once we got home it was time to get dirty-again. I found the "perfect" place for half of my strawberry plants. A place overrun with weeds, a total eye sore. However, once I pulled all those weeds and starting digging I realized this wasn't going to be an easy job... under the weeds and dirt was tons of rocks!! I thought it would take a half hour.... um two hours later and one dirty mommy plus a really dirty one year old and we had 11 strawberry plants in the ground.

I knew homesteading wasn't going to be easy... I am thanking God that I have some meals in the freezer because the last thing I want to do is cook!!!

How was your homestead day?
