Ya'll I think I might have lost my mind. A friend and I placed an order for 8 bushels of tomatoes from a local Amish farm and I went to pick them up tonight. Have ya'll ever seen 8 bushels of tomatoes??? It is a huge amount!!! It completely filled the whole back of our van!!
We're planning on doing some canning together and between us we'll have 10 kids ages 12-1.
10 kids + 8 bushels of tomatoes = 2 very tired mommies by the end of the day! We're planning on doing ketchup, pizza sauce, and sloppy joe sauce. I'll let you know how it turns out. I might even take some pictures!

I just picked my own tomatoes at $18 per bushel. I got a bushel and a half. I spent 2 days canning and am completely exhausted today. I don't know how people can do so much more than me in less time. How do they get it all done? How long did it take you to can 8 bushels of tomatoes?
It took us most of the day and we got 6 bushels done. It is exhausting work but I enjoy it.
