On a Wing and a Prayer

I'll be the first to admit that we might not have thought our new lifestyle all the way through. We'd been talking about making the jump into self employment off and on for a couple of years, however the timing was always wrong. Many still think our timing was/is wrong, with the economy down and prices going up how are we going to survive?

I want to encourage you today. It isn't easy following the path that God wants us too. He might ask you to sacrifice one thing or many things. The road might be extremely curving and up hill. My friends it's so worth it to follow Him though. He will never leave you or forsake you. We are following Him. I have never felt more at peace with a decision. It is hard though and at times I forget why we're choosing a path that seems hopeless. We can't get ahead. Bills are piling up and money is scarce. Many weeks we only have $20 to stretch as far as we can.

Each month we watch as bills pile up and money isn't coming in as fast as we'd like. We pray and wait for a miracle. I'll be honest that at times I am really scared. I am forever grateful for my small side jobs and being able to pinch pennies. They have kept us afloat until checks roll in.

Is He asking you to take a path that seems dark? Trust Him. Take that leap of faith. It might get darker than you ever thought it could. Trust. There is no place I'd rather be than in His hands!

I just want to second all that you said. Two years ago we took the same leap of faith as my husband left his steady paycheck to become self employed. The first year was awful and the only thing that saved us was our faith in God and that we had stored a little money away ahead of time. But you know what? About the time we thought we were drowning and taking our last breath, the tide turned.
Things are perfect now and sometimes money is still short and the months are really long... but we are at peace and very happy. Hang in there. God is the ultimate life jacket.

It must be hard! Keep up your faith, I think you are doing an amazing job at stretching your money as far as you possibly can.

I grew up with self-employed parents, and worked for them for many years.

I then married a man who had been self-employed for most of his life.

It's different, being self-employed, and those who aren't have no idea what's like.

I read an article today that said that those who have been unemployed for a long time may not find jobs, because companies are running tighter and more efficiently now. The thought I had when I read that was that people are going to have to get creative and make their own jobs.

This post was very refreshing to my spirit; I emjoyed it very much!
