U-Pick Farms

We love going to u-pick farms! It's a great way to save money and a great way to eat local food. This year I've found two new u-pick farms that offer halves. Halves means that you give the owner half of what you pick and your half is free!! We've picked organic blueberries and organic red raspberries for free this way!

You might think that you don't have any farms around you that do this but I encourage you to look - I've lived here for 7 years and it's taken me this long to find them! This is an awesome way to stock your freezer or pantry full of yummy foods for free.

Free fruit works for me

I found a u-pick place today for tomatoes. I am just not getting enough from my garden. Unfortunately it was not a nice farm and most of the tomatoes were half rotten. I did spend a long time and got 1.5 bushels, but it was hard and frustrating. Not what I am used to for u-pick places. Next time I will hit someplace different. I have never heard of a place going halves with you.

I've never heard of halving it at u-pick either. Would love to find one of those! By the way, I pop in from time to time and love your candid nature and find a lot in common between a large garden, canning/freezing, homeschooling(I have 4), and finding simple ways to save our family money while serving God first.
