Our main family goal for 2010 is to not eat out- at all for 2010. We chose this for many different reasons but the main two are health and finances. It costs us at least $25 each time we run through the drive thru or even when we get pizza. If we do that two times a week that means at least $100 a month wasted. Many times we hit the drive thru more than that. This goal is really going to stretch me. I'll be cooking even when I don't feel like it. I will also really need to watch our grocery budget so it doesn't go up either. Menu planning will become my best friend.
Our other goal is to save $5000. By not eating out we should have no trouble hitting this goal. I'm on a spending freeze for January to kick the year off on the right foot. I want to get out of the spending habit. My husband wants to get his business going and if we have a cushion in the bank he'll be able to do that.

Good luck with your no-eating out venture! I will be checking back to see how you are doing. Please keep us updated! God bless you in the New Year!
I wish this is one we could keep! I know we could go a while without it , but doubt a whole year lol!
Sound like great goals!!!
I wish you much luck:)
Good luck!
We only go out to eat trwice a year--once for our anniversary, and once for a combined night for mine and my husband's birthday. My parents babysit for us those two nights and give us the money and the babysitting as a gift.
This is what we've done for many years now.
I plan enough for leftovers in mnay of my meals, which does help reduce the number of meals I need to cook.
This is a great idea, although I love to eat out. Come link up at Thrifty Thursday!

Great goal! I recently reviewed how much we spent on dining out and my eyes nearly popped out of my head (I wrote about it on my blog)
To think I could have saved a few grand by NOT eating out. Crazy!
Best of luck with your goal.
What a great goal - I know that I don't want to totally give up eating out, but I certainly can and will give up fast food drive thru's!!
