Homemade Shampoo

Yesterday I talked about using my homemade deodorant and today I want to tell you about my experiment with homemade shampoo. Again, there are many chemicals in shampoo that are bad for you. I had been buying organic shampoo but that adds up quickly. I searched the web for a "recipe" for a homemade shampoo and I found one that I think is going to work.

My homemade shampoo
Make a paste of baking soda and water. This is your shampoo. Rub it on your hair and really massage it into your scalp. Let it sit for about a minute. Rinse.

Apple Cider Rinse
I used a ketchup bottle bought from Walmart to store this in...
Mix 1 or 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water and squirt it all over your hair. Let it sit for about 1 minute. Rinse.

I used this today for the first time. I was worried that my hair would smell like vinegar but it doesn't. However, my hair is the softest it has ever been. I love how cheap this is to make!!

Have you ever tried making shampoo?

Nope, never tried it or thought about it. I like your deoderant idea too. I have gotten to where in the winter I just don't wear it at all. It is a way for me to avoid the bad stuff a few months a year.

I will have to think on the shampoo. what about conditioner?

The apple cider vinegar is supposed to be the conditioner. My hair is really thick and wavy and it's usually very hard to comb but after this it brushed out just fine!

I'm so going to try this once I run out of my stockpile of shampoo. Have you heard about the oil cleansing method for the face?

I haven't heard about the oil cleansing method... I have really bad skin...like a 13 year old...pimples and all!! I was just thinking that I need a natural "zit zapper" ( :

I'd love a recipe if you have one!!

One of the best things to put in your hair is raw egg (no joke). You can make simple recipes from mayo with great results, but this extravagant one is one of my favourites:-
