Works for me Wednesday

I have a dream of living on a huge farm, growing all my own produce, and being mostly self sufficient. Currently, we live in a rental home and have a small garden but I'm always reading and trying to put more homestead ways into practice. One of my favorite new ways to "homestead" and live off the land is by visiting Amish produce stands. The price is always right and if you play your cards right you'll probably even learn a few things and make some new friends.

I would love to do this... how did you find one? I have no idea where to even begin to find Amish food stands!!!

I live in an area with a lot of Amish farms. If you just head out on a country high way in my county you're bound to find at least one stand!! On one road there is at least 5!!! If you live in an area with Mennonites or Amish I would see if this would work for you.

I find the way of life of many amish very inspiring, too. I bet they have many tips.
And their produce would be considered non certified organic, too.

Oh, me too!! We're hoping to sell our home this fall and start saving to build out in the country, get a cow and some chickens, and have a nice garden.

When it comes to produce, the best place to find the best deals is the produce auction. I know you went to owl creek, but there is another one in Mt. Hope on 241. Google it and you can see their market report and compare it to Owl Creek. I've never been to owl creek, but love Mt. Hope :)
