At our house Friday night is family movie night, we make this extra frugal by purchasing a movie rental discount card so all movies are 1/2 off. This past Friday we rented Marley and Me, we were advised by other parents that this wasn't a child friendly movie. Here is what we thought of the movie.
Marley and Me was extremely well done. It did an excellent job of showing a family struggling with troubles that everybody faces. The wife goes from being a major reporter to a stay at home mom and it touches on her struggles. It portrayed a family that was determined to stay together even when things got rough. Mom and Dad treat each other with respect (for the most part).
Marley goes from being an adorable puppy to a wonderful family dog. He is an important part of this family.
This movie was also an incredibly sad movie. I cried buckets before the end even happened. My husband and I were extremely grateful that we were told that this wasn't for kids. It is a wonderful date night movie for mom and dad and older kids ( over 14) but only if they are truly prepared for the ending. I would totally give this movie 5 stars.
